The night before we leave...

So we are just finishing getting the kids to bed and completing our last study on Understanding Poverty. We are reading what the Hebrew prophet Isaiah wrote on true fasting. You can find it in Isaiah 58:1-12. Here are the questions we are trying to answer:

1. Are the Israelites described in verses 1-3 good at their religion?

2. Do you ever feel like God is far away, and doesn’t notice you?

3. Are there any modern equivalents for the kind of religious ritual described in verse 5?

4. What do you think true fasting would look like in Manila?

5. Are the promises in verses 10-12 the kind of things you are looking for in life? Can you put this section in your own words?

6. Compare and contrast the methods secular thought offers to a fulfilled life and the methods Isaiah offers to a fulfilled life.
